I think that from time to time. But then I remember that if he had won in 2020, there's no telling how the vaccination plan would have gone. He'd have been empowered to think that COVID was no big deal. That is terrifying.

Even if we got through the back end of Covid OK, he still would have had to navigate the post-shutdown economy, and he’d have had at least the Senate on his side and maybe have tilted the House red as well. We may have only postponed calamity with Biden winning but we weren’t avoiding it in the alternate timeline.

No question about it. Elmo made an immediate go at Stinky's nuts before Stinky gained real power.

Maybe it's time for "Superman" to put the addled kid in the corner.

This whole continuing resolution-government funding story is remarkably confusing. There's the original proposal and then Son of Original Proposal and now whatever's next.
One sure way for a Trumpist member of the House to fend off primary challenges is to vote to shut down the fedruhl gubmint -- no matter what the spending plan actually includes or excludes. Just shut it down. Saint Ronnie of the B-Movies began this contempt 40 years ago, and that fucking klan has taken up the cause ever since.
If the fedruhl gubmint is shut down, do Social Security payments cease? This is something I don't have to address for a few more years, but I'm curious.

No, they don't. If they did, there wouldn't be any government shutdowns.

Those bastards should own it. All of it. If they want to shut down the fedruhl gubmint as an act of performance art, the shutdown should include the really painful stuff. If they're really people of principle, you know. Like those smart, interesting libertarians who say they were once Democrats but have seen the light of day.

I'm going to imitate a catatonic lawmaker until you give my boy what he wants. You'll be sorry when they carry me out of here.
