I remember the last group that Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It included Ellen DeGeneres and Bruce Springsteen.

Some MAGA troll commented on pictures of them receiving the medals that they were getting “participation trophies” because they voted for Hillary Clinton, who lost the election. Therefore they were losers.

Never mind that Ellen and Bruce have accomplished more on any given day of their lives than this dipshit had done in his whole life. Or my whole life for that matter or most people’s.

I think the difference is the Citizen's medal is more for a specific thing, and the PMOF is for a lifetime of contributions.

I still have never been able to find any confirmation that Willie Nelson has won the PMOF which seems like a no-brainer. I know Dolly and Bill Belichick have both politely declined it, don't know if Willie did as well.
