So do it all in one big bill... which was anathema a couple of weeks ago. Johnson is going to play hell selling this. April? They'll be lucky to get it done by October.

I think that's a recipe for both Trump and Johnson to find out quickly just how fractious the House is going to be. I heard a good description of what's going on there. There is a large faction of the R's that were talking about the deficit and spending cuts for political purposes, and there is another that actually believe in doing so. That's going to be fun to watch.

Trump and Johnson will get it passed in a week.

"That's a bold strategy, Cotton, let's see if it pays off for him."

I figure that Johnson thinks that he can squeeze his people better on one big Trump branded bill. Maybe so. Their majority is very thin, though, and *everyone* is going to want to get their personal hobby horses included. Everyone including various donors, industries, PACs, and the Representatives for their various pet pork projects.

They may get it through, but it's not going to happen fast. Throw in that the Senate also has a voice in things. At best it's going to be an ordeal for Johnson - and remember that he got in on a very narrow vote.

    We'll see.

You’re not onboard with the new normal yet, are you? How many times you gotta be disappointed by society caving to Trump?

As I said after expanding that post, we'll see. They may get it, or most of it, through, but I think that it will be anything but fast. Add that if it takes a long time to get through they'll start getting heat about not fixing the border immediately. Thune has already expressed concern about that one.

Reconciliation is a process in which legislation is supposed to be directly related to the budget and must technically not add to the deficit. So taxes, sure, debt limit even. Hard to see how they get immigration into that frame, unless they blow up the process, which they might come to regret if returned to the minority. And Republican and Democratic Senators alike share one common trait -- they look down on the House and abhor the thought they're being dictated to by it.

Won't the filibuster threat keep the odds of a single bill being plowed thru too quickly?
