I get it, but they get out of control. My mom had a surgery where she said the surgeon didn't like how his nurse handed him an instrument, so he decided it would be okay to throw it back at her. My mom said the nurse did the rest of the surgery with tears in her eyes.

Imagine if astronauts or electrical linemen or air traffic controllers allowed their tempers to get to that point?

I'm all about customer service, I depend on clients. I wish this wasn't the case with surgeons, but damn its a hard road to travel (my buddy didn't get his first real paycheck until he was 36; after all the internships and residencies) and they get the job done (most of the time.) Its a damn hard job with few alternatives available.

I have a theory the percentage of dickheads in any given profession is pretty similar to any other. But the type of profession causes us to remember some more than others.

Cop gives you attitude, we apply it to the whole LE industry. A kindergarten teacher does it and we don't.

 

You're probably right. And I probably shouldn't be too judgmental when the profession I've spent 18 years in is more reviled than the other two by orders of magnitude.
