It will be interesting this morning to see if Ubu reads the deflating reviews of last night's failed address and starts tweeting, or goes quiet with rage.

    In the meantime . . .

I think Conway and Huckster-Slanders planned the speech figuring the broadcast networks would not show it and the entire speech would be about the objective news organizations hatred of trump. Airing the speech was the correct move and it showed that trump cannot be persuasive or convincing unless you are predisposed to agree with him. As a president of the US he showed terrible command of the moment. He was not presidential. And he is a terrible speech maker with awful writers.

Is it normal for journalists to leak/report from off-the-record events for journalists? The fact that none of the journalists here (what's the percentage now, 1/3?) have commented on this makes me think it may be standard practice now, but it seems mildly unethical to me, as well as being likely to discourage future off-the-record invitations. Or is the feeling that Trump is so uniquely bad that normal rules don't apply? I could understand that argument, but this particular statement seems like standard Trump, not among the dozen most noteworthy or ridiculous things he's said this week, and not worth a violation of what I assume is normal practice.
