JC, I hope so. But I’m not confident GOP senators would vote to convict should the House impeach him. Trump is such an embarrassment. My dad used to think Jimmy Carter was our worst president. He voted for Trump and now says Trump is the worst.

The worst thing the House could do would be to impeach without the Senate votes. They've had little problem ignoring a Supreme Court nominee or a government shutdown - they would easily ignore an impeachment and say it was a political stunt, that the Ds were criminalizing politics etc.
The play for the House is to dump all the garbage they find at the Senate's feet so they catch some of the stink as well. Also wouldn't have a problem with publicizing how various legislators have aided and abetted some of the stuff they uncover.

 

It's going to be hilarious when the President (barred from giving the SOTU at the Capitol in the midst of the longest govt. shutdown ever) says the state of the union is "strong." I'd go with "not as bad as people think."
