I try to explain why he's popular to most of his citizens.

And unless you lived in 1998 Russia, you could never understand the "horrific shit" people dealt with then that they do not deal with today. You still have zero idea how "horrific" Yeltsin was, do you? Because Washington didn't tell you. You had Al Gore painting pictures of rainbows and unicorns while the UN was sending alarms of a "humanitarian catastrophe."

And frankly, nobody knows exactly what "horrific shit" has Putin's name on it. Some? Certainly. All? Highly doubtful. And who gets to decide what's "horrific"? Crimea? The people there are happier, yet the US calls it a horrific crime. My idea of right and wrong do not come from politicians in Washington . . . or Moscow.

Tons of "horrific shit" happens here . . . that we never used to put the president's name on (until recently, with all this "Trump's America" nonsense every time there's a hate crime). Pretty much anything horrific over there automatically gets a Putin stamp of approval by Western media.

 

Did you live in 1998 Russia?

 

Also, I'm told Adolf Hitler was very popular in Germany.
