Top Va. Republican Senator Edited 1968 Yearbook With Blackface Photos, Racial Slurs

I give you the party of personal responsibility's Virginia Senate Majority Leader. Says the managing editor of the VMI yearbook:

"As one of seven working on a 359-page yearbook, I cannot endorse or associate myself with every photo, entry, or word on each page," Norment said. "However, I am not in any of the photos referenced on pages 82 or 122, nor did I take any of the photos in question." Photos on pages 82 and 122 each depict a person in blackface.

 

Why isn't AMI under investigation for blackmail?

 

I feel like this should be its own thread. This is journalism as much if not more than politics.

 

I presume that's the reason for Bezos' going public.

 

It was really fucking stupid of AMI to put all that stuff in writing.

I knew there had to be a reason the GOP was relatively silent on this. It's the same reason the AG was silent on the Northam issue. Everybody with a position of leadership in either chamber of the legislature is wondering if he or she will be next.
Nobody can quit or be impeached/removed because there's just too much potential chaos.

 

If I'm the AJC, I start looking for this guy's college yearbooks. Or some other evidence.

Maybe, but he didn't seem to campaign very actively until the last minute in 2018, and I saw comments suggesting he wasn't all that enthusiastic about running even then.
