So national emergency declarations can be overridden by Congress. Pelosi can move such disapproval through the House, and the Senate would be FORCED to vote on it (majority leader can't block it). Twenty-two Republican Senators up for re-election in 2020 will then have to take a vote they'd rather not. In the meantime, it all heads to the federal courts.

The whataboutism is the attempt to put so much focus on a new member of Congress as if her failings are somehow justification for Republican support of President Trump.

It's not as if whataboutism has no place at all, but when it's all you have, something is wrong with the message. When you use false equivalences, something is wrong with the message.

Also, it's not all conservatives. There are certain posters who love to use the broad brush for everybody on the other side. Not all conservatives on SJ.com do that, but it does seem to be something that mostly comes from their side.

OK, fine, wonderful. Fatfuck decides to pardon Manafort for his loyalty.

How long you think Uncle Vlad is gonna let Manafort run around loose before he orders the polonium enema?

So he got tired of being pssusy-whipped by Coulter and decided to kneel before Hannity.

And of course everything is subject to approval by Uncle Vlad.

So looks like the Senate impeachment test vote — err, vote on the House resolution against the national emergency — is gonna happen.

It is rare when one side in politics creates a weapon that can just as easily be used by the other side when it has the chance. McConnell's acceding to the emergency makes sense only if he believes 1. Won't stand up in court or 2. Supreme Court will rule its use legal for Republican Presidents and unconstitutional for Democrats. I'm no fan of the Republican Justices, but that seems like a step too far for them. That'd be blowing themselves up.

They may be operating on the presumption Democrats will never be allowed to win an election again.
