The 70s and 80s were quite the liberal paradise.

 

Belgium's Chief of Counterintelligence suspected of spying for Moscow. Penetrating CI is a spymaster's dream. Getting an agent in place as the head of CI? That's even better than Kim Philby. Tons of access to secrets, and you're the guy in charge of finding spies, that's as good as it gets other than actually directing an opposing intelligence agency.

I mean, if you want to claim 45 years of moving right, I'd agree with you.

 

I'm not saying it's good or bad or right or wrong.

I'm just saying that it's historically true.

Reagan moved everything to the right. Including the Democrats.

Clinton and the DNC moved their whole party to the right as part of the their strategy of triangulation. The Democrats became the center.

The right moved farther right, in part due to 9/11 and the subsequent forever war it launched.

After which Obama governed as a Rockefeller Republican.

Which drove the right even farther right and off a cliff.

 

I blame Clinton. Elected on one platform, governed on a different one.

 

It is the farthest Trump has traveled without a golf cart in recent months.

 

I'll look forward to a bunch of Republican Senators talking tough on the national emergency. Then doing abso-fucking-lutely nothing to challenge it.

What a joke. Two years of Republican control and they didn't do the stupid fucking wall. Then didn't get it after a 35-day shutdown. Now a made-up national emergency.

I do not assume it will get blocked by the judiciary. I expect both the judiciary and legislature to say "If it's unconstitutional, we expect the other branch to step in, but otherwise it's presidential discretion."
