Wilson's a pretty smart guy, but this advice is useless. "I am against putting children in cages and concentration camps" is now a culture war flashpoint for the Republican Party. "I think all Americans ought to be able to serve in the armed forces" is a flashpoint. "I think unarmed civilians of any race should not be shot by cops" is a huge flashpoint. There's no fighting indecency by ignoring it. You have to take a position. If you lose because your fellow citizens are bigoted fucks, so be it.

 

We should all be able to breathe easier.

 

I see Fox News on at the gym and I guess it "works" for their core audience - but they seem to be retreating deeper and deeper into their base to the point that their opinions shows may as well be a foreign language or a religion you need to be well versed in to understand.

 

I really hate this bitch. I'd like to see Hannity and Carlson punched in the face by a 1980s Mike Tyson, but there is seriously no limits to bad things that could happen to her that I wouldn't applaud.

That's an excellent op-ed. We'll see if Democrats are paying the slightest bit of attention.

I'm just not sure. I think, along with winning, the progressives want to re-litigate the Democratic Party of 25-30 years ago along with it. We'll see.

 

Over a third of the Democratic vote is people of color. Party can't abandon civil rights or a non-racist immigration policy. That's not "progressives." Over half, well over half of Democratic voters are women. Same for reproductive rights. ANY Democratic policy to advance the economic well-being of the non-wealthy will be attacked as "socialism." That's been true since 1932. What Wilson really wants (way too smart to admit it, even to himself) is for the Dems to nominate Jeb Bush.
