Reality-show host to the Oval Office should also have been a mighty leap. Alas ...

It was a mighty leap and he's failing miserably.

You're right and it demonstrates just how fucked up things are now. President Trump has done far worse, but it is Biden who won't be able to get past it.

I find the Biden stuff fascinating for a couple of reasons. Pre-MeToo it was seen as "charming" and "harmless." Post-MeToo it's "creepy." If someone was creeped out by it - they have a right be creeped out by it and not to be told by others that "that's just who he is." If someone wasn't bothered by it - that's fine too. Clearly this is viewed differently post-MeToo - and I do wonder if some people aren't suddenly being outraged by it because they think they "should" be. Also - I wonder how many men brought down by MeToo don't feel that they were doing anything different than Biden was doing and wonder why they were treated differently.

And kind of off point - if the person who Biden was touching wasn't put off by it, is it okay if others are?

The smart way to portray Biden's excessive physicality is not to say he's a creep, as he just doesn't give off that vibe, but as the lifelong habit of a man whose time has passed and who has not adjusted to a pretty widespread social change (those moves were many pols' stock in trade back in the say. I mean, kissing babies? Who does that anymore? I'll bet he does).

As somebody on another forum said "They have been faking "Gropen Biden" photos on social media for 2 years now. This is just the next step up."

I find the touching thing super complicated. There's probably a 10,000-word essay to be done on the place of touch in modern society.
