Watched the first 25 minutes of the Pelosi town hall. 1, why, is she running in 2020? 2, it was scripted*

    * probably not but it certainly felt that way.

I disagree. This is a battle that's already been lost. He is going to be confirmed. There are more points to be gained on the high road here.

Nobody's. But unconditional surrender is not an option. Democratic voters won't be mad at their legislators if they lose fights, but if they don't fight, they'll become targets.

Then they are putting themselves and their own careers above the good of the party and (if you believe in progressive policies), the country. Yes, it opens a Democrat in a deep blue state up to being primaried, although I'm not sure how much of a risk that is for Democrats as compared to conservatives in red America. But right now you're trying to flip swing states and swing state voters. This is a golden opportunity to contrast the way your party handles a nomination with the way the opposing party handled a nomination.

FWIW, you also play to Trump's Pavlovian instincts. He's surely smarting from two weeks of raging opposition to anything that can be legitimately framed as "extreme." This pat on the head could help temper his worst instincts, moving forward, as he seeks approval and validation.

What's the evidence that he was used as a decoy? That he was seen 100 miles east of Washington D.C.?

Other than keeping his mouth shut, what did he do?

And honestly, all the pundits and talking heads who called the coming announcement "unseemly" and who made "rose ceremony" jokes should be admitting that the fell for #FakeNews, and ran with it without any verification.

Last night's announcement was perfectly normal, and not unseemly in any way.

"Sir, do you have anything to declare?"
"Only that he's a very good boy."
