oh wow you are really lost here i mean why the trump hate especially when it has you so deranged and blind with irrational rage that you haven't even considered if these positions are really necessary he wants to have a larger conversation about the scope and role of government in our lives and you just lap up aoc's 2020 candidacy and go on about brown "people" being put in cages before they overrun our country with drugs and injection molded automotive components so maybe do your research and consider if you're not the real problem here you've become the face of your party how embarrassing for the media to have let this happen

He doesn't want to have any "conversation."
He wants to get rid of everything the government does besides build bombs and give huge tax breaks to the billionaires.

My best friend from childhood, known him since the second grade, owns his own business and is understandably much more conservative than I am.

The last time we talked about this, he said that he didn't understand why people who aren't as healthy don't have to pay more than healthy people. I'm not sure if he was arguing against the coverage of preexisting conditions or not. I guess that's a good question. I know that to an extent, that's already being done. At the job I left two months ago, smokers paid higher premiums. I'm sure there are other places that charge people with higher BMIs, such as myself, more. I wasn't sure if he was talking about people who engage in behavior that is unhealthy or also people who are just unlucky enough to get some sort of serious illness through no fault of their own. Everybody gets sick. We don't always know when or what it will be or why it happened, but we all get sick from time to time.

He also didn't understand why a 50-year-old man would have to buy a policy that covered neonatal care or why we can't buy plans from other states. Good questions, I guess, but it's not possible to do a la carte insurance. If we could buy policies from other states, insurance companies would all set up shop in the states with the weakest consumer protection laws, the same way so many credit card companies are based in South Dakota and Delaware. Also, networks are state-based because the cost of living varies from state to state and you could find a great, affordable policy in another state but there would not be a doctor in your state who would accept it.

I brought up single-payer, which is not what I favor, but you'd think as a business owner, he'd appreciate not having the burden of making insurance available for employees and he brought up really long wait times in Canada and Great Britain, which as far as I know are greatly exaggerated (if any Canadians here know differently, please, let me know). He brought up how many Canadians come to the US for medical treatment, but those are typically people who either have second homes here or are here for other reasons. They also have the financial wherewithal to come here and go to hospitals here. I just don't see how our system (or lack of a system) would be better for a Canadian who is not so wealthy or unable to raise money on GoFundMe or something like that.

Insurance is risk spreading. Healthy people and sick people get charged the same rates because otherwise the premiums for older and sick people would be astronomical. When I turned 50 (long time ago now) my primary care doctor said to me at my annual checkup "Now's when we start to make the money back. She was joking on the square. She also had an MBA as well as her MD. Smart person.
    2. For every Canadian who comes to the US for treatment, two US citizens go to Mexico or Asia to save money.
    3. There is widespread dissatisfaction with the US health system from within it. Doctors don't like insurance companies any more than customers do. Everybody hates pharma. But it takes a lot of guts and even more skill to change any system for the better when change means some people take a big haircut to benefit everybody else.

I still can’t get over how Israel has become an evangelical talking point. They literally think that Jews like me will suffer eternal damnation because we don’t accept JC as our lord and savior.

They love Jews and will fight for them up to the battle of Armageddon. At which point they believe Jews must accept Jesus, renounce Judaism, or be condemned to hell forever.
