The White House apparently told more than one news outlet they were both "summoned" to the White House.

It is barely relevant, but you made the argument because you are compelled to defend everything President Trump and his minions do or say and once again I am pointing out the flaw in your latest claim. The flaw being that Spicer's word is evidence of nothing because he has already proven that he is willing to tell outrageous lies regarding matters that simply aren't worth lying about.

Sounds like Coons and Durbin, along with Mancin will vote for cloture, so he may yet get to 60 votes, and the Dems avoid forcing the Republicans to go nuclear.

But, it doesn't really matter. Republicans will go nuclear to get a SCOTUS nominee approved as soon as they're forced to. Dems only chance to stop the court from tipping is to hope it's his only appointment before the 2018 midterms, and they win back the Senate, but that's unlikely.

And, let's be honest, the reason the Dems didn't bang the drum every day over Garland was because they thought Clinton would win, the Dems would win the Senate, they'd get a more liberal pick, and go nuclear to get them confirmed.

There's absolutely no doubt that Schumer was prepared to use the nuclear option, as majority leader, to get a Clinton pick confirmed.

I am under no illusion that they'll do it. But it would be the right tactical move. This is like the "prisoner's dilemma" and all of those other philosophical collective action puzzles.

I disagree very strongly. One of the biggest problems for the party is the double standard in the pundit class wherein Democrats are supposed to be purer and nicer than Republicans, and when they aren't, it's worse than if a Republican is horrid. It's really not that difficult. The Republicans have the votes. If a Senator opposes the nominee on any grounds, policy, procedure, what have you, vote no. If the Republicans feel forced to change the rules of the Senate to use their votes, so be it. Once again, I must agree with YF. The Republicans will end the filibuster for court nominees at some point. Might as well make it now. What's the point of saving a weapon that isn't gonna work when you use it?

The left wing activists will freak out if Dems don't at least put up a show fight against him.

There were over 1,000 demonstrators outside Chuck Schumer's home last night.

So what? Fuck 'em. What? Brooklyn and San Francisco are going to go red next election?

It may be the smart political move, but simply taking a punch to the face and not reacting to the bully tends to invite more punches.

The seat Trump filled last night was stolen from Obama and Garland, pure and simple. The R's didn't even do it with slick parliamentary movement. They simply refused to do their job and cockblocked the nomination. This is unprecedented. Frankly, Obama should have announced that since the Senate had refused to do do their duty out of partisan politics, since they had not interviewed and disapproved Garland after a reasonable amount of time he was seating him.

There are a lot of Democrats who simply want their reps to grow a spine and resist.

That's not courageous at this point. That's just business as normal in Washington.

US Weekly. Aren't they the ones who reported that Wendy Deng and Putin were dating?

You know, the story everyone repeated, but no one confirmed.
