Pretty much. Russians in several countries who were under Five I's surveillance for their own reasons were observed meeting with people in Trump's circle. That info was quickly forwarded to our intel services out of concern. That triggered the FISA warrants and when NSA/CIA and whoever else started looking they found similar concerning actions. I think that's pretty accurate.

An investigation and surveillance under a warrant are only spying in the sense that the subject is unaware that he is being observed - which is why you do it in the first place, to see what he's doing when he thinks no one is watching.

 

It's not up to him and the law is very clear in this regard: Congress doesn't need a reason to see someone's returns.

 

The response from Congress should be, direct quote: "Shutup boy and do as you're told."

 

Trump will take this all the way to the Supreme Court and if it rules against him, he'll say: "I'm not releasing them. Try and make me."
Same thing with the subpoenas

 

If that happens we'll have the Constitutional Crisis they've been talking about for real.
