Was thinking the same thing when Spicer made a fuss about questions coming from remote locations. Let's call it for what it is, another opportunity to bring friendlies into the press room.

 

I'd say refusing to even hold a vote on a nominee because you're in the final year of a POTUS term is ramping the hardball tactics up to 11. I look forward to Trump trying to replace a SCOTUS in 2020 when all the "let the voters have a say" quotes come back to haunt the GOP hardliners.

 

How far do you have to be in a POTUS term before it's reasonable to say, nah, next one gets to make this pick?

 

I think we all understand a fight now means they nuke the filibuster.

1) They'll nuke it anyway, eventually, and 2) Congresspeople are getting flooded with calls and emails from constituents demanding they resist.

Rock, hard place, etc.

 

Hey doc -- all Whitman did this year was help free two guys who were wrongly convicted 30 years ago. Nothing like the globe-critical work of others.

 

That's the $64,000 question, isn't it?

I think it's determined by whether the person answering likes the POTUS in question.
