This is as good a time as any for a reminder:

Tens of millions of Russians are without hot water for 2-3 weeks every summer while the government does maintenance on the decrepit Soviet-era pipes to make sure they'll be functional in winter.

But this same country has expertly rigged every American voting machine to ensure Donald Trump wind the presidency.

 

It's one of those things I still wrestle with, being Catholic. Where do you draw the line between accepting suffering as part of life and not allowing others to take advantage of your willingness to accept suffering?

 

Vlad will do what is best for Vlad. If he needed his people to have hot water to stay in power, they'll have hot water. If he needs to rig elections to stay in power, he'll rig elections. Frankly though - I think his main goal has been achieved in creating world-wide uncertainty and chaos and undermining institutions that helped unite the free world.

One can easily be done electronically, through hacking. The other requires shovels in the ground.
