You gotta explain this to me. Why are you offended that I care about my personal IRA? Why was that such a lightning rod for you? Me accounting for my retirement, my satisfaction that I'm not going to be in the poor house -- that doesn't affect you in any way whatsoever.

Is this your equivalent of posting a cute meme? Because it's very weak.

And regardless of what a dick you're being, I hope you find financial security too.

At least he's honest about not giving a shit about the things that don't affect him. I don't think that attitude is unique. My life isn't considerably different than it would be if Clinton (who I voted for) had won. Maybe we'd be in more wars or something.

Acknowledging that is maybe not helpful to others, but it's an attitude shared by a lot of people.

More than anything I'm disenchanted with the alternatives the Democrats have come up with after all this time. Where is the centrist with new, viable ideas? Where is this era's Bill Clinton?

Making financial decisions based on politics is stupid. Making political decisions based on finance is equally stupid. They are not in tandem with each other. I mean, if Sbottie had an IRA in 2009, it went up way more under Obama than it has under Trump. It's related to the business cycle, not the White House.

I don't understand, Michael. What financial decision was made based on politics? Establishing an IRA?

I'm quoting the original post so the meaning isn't lost. This isn't just saying that you don't think we should bother posting about President Trump here or on social media because that accomplishes nothing. That would just be a silly point because I'm not sure anything we post here really accomplishes anything. If we're supposed to stop writing posts here that don't affect anything, then just keep the jobs board and maybe some journalism discussion threads and trash the rest.

You wrote more than that. You wrote that you don't care about the damage President Trump is doing as long as it doesn't affect you. You wrote that you are fine and the people you care about are fine, so it's really not so bad. It is exactly the kind of self-centered view that has played a big role in creating the mess in the first place. You've got yours, so to hell with everybody else. That's a terrible attitude. If that's not what is in that post, by all means, please enlighten us where we misunderstood.

If I didn't misunderstand and you are really just declaring your decision to be a selfish asshole, that's fine. Just don't be surprised when people call you an asshole for it.

Investment choices in particular. Any number of dishonest financial talking heads like Larry Kudlow told people to sell their stocks when Obama was inaugurated because they are partisan Republicans. Cost anyone who listened (few did) a great deal of money. Would've been just as silly to sell because Trump got elected. It might be time now to reshuffle some financial assets as the business cycle gets a little long in the tooth, but that's got nothing to do with Trump or the election.

Gingerbread gave you an honest answer. When one writes they don’t care about the political landscape, it is read, by some, as not caring about any of those people at all.

Personally? I don’t agree with that. I actually think it’s kind of dangerous to project that kind of callousness based on a message board post. But I absolutely think it’s a phenomenon in our culture right now, to think that.

The left is mad. Really mad. And you will either be with it or against it.

    Again.
Even if impeachment gets through the House, there's no way......NO WAY (#bufordtjustice) it gets through the Senate.

You folks are terrible; what’s the alternative? Someone who follows the law? You don’t care about someone who breaks the law? I bet you will when The police comes in and invades your house without a warrant and arrests you without following the law. It matters.
