Bill Taylor graduated fifth (of 800) in his West Point class. As a result he could name his first assignment in the Army. He chose commanding an infantry rifle company in Vietnam in 1969. He later resigned from the Army and pursued a multi-decade career in public service in the State Department. He rose to become our ambassador in an important country, an ally of ours.

All this of course after openly beseeching operatives in an adversary nation to interfere in the campaign in a live televised speech. (Which they promptly did do.)

In many, perhaps most, nations in the world, that single incident would have resulted in instantaneous removal from the electoral race and probably imprisonment.
