President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

You read that piece and you sense almost certainly Trump did a shady political thing.

I just don’t think it moves the needle much for the American public as a particularly immoral act because the proceedings have fixated so much on Ukraine and so little on the harm that could have been done to Biden.

 

You may be right, but in a case of refusing to spend lawfully appropriated funds to extort a foreign government, what was done/said in that foreign country is necessarily much of the story. The evidence/testimony about the domestic political parts of Trump's move are what's being withheld by the White House and the refusal of officials to testify.

 

If he felt this way, he should’ve said it while he was in the administration.

At least he said something, unlike Jim Mattis.

It doesn’t move the needle at all for the millions of stupid voters who support him. He could execute someone on the White House lawn and they would still vote for him.

 

But if say, I dunno, Barack Obama, had held back Congressionally-approved military aid for Israel (after they were invaded by Iran who hacked the RNC in 08) in order for them to investigate Tagg Romney....

 

Democrats would wonder why the hell we’re giving 300 million to a country in bed with the Romneys.
