Our local paper went to press while the vote was going on and the result known, but before Pelosi's bombshell. Couldn't read it. I can tolerate not having West Coast night games in, but this is different. Screw profits coming before the news.

    Can't understand neocon Trumpists.

Also, how the now-elderly base who embraced Reagan's Russia Evil Empire now see nothing amiss with the ongoing Russian blowjob.

The media seems to be trying to emphasize identities, but I don't think any of the main Democratic contenders are running on identity as their defining characteristic in the way Hillary did, or at least the way Hillary's supporters talked about it. Buttigieg isn't making his campaign about, "it's time to put someone who's LGBTQ in the White House," and his supporters aren't saying, "if you don't vote for him, you're anti-gay." Klobuchar may have been pigeonholed as "the pragmatic woman candidate," but she's tried to emphasize the "pragmatic" part of that. Likely Democratic voters don't seem to be reflexively supporting people who share their identities either - Biden has more African-American support than Booker does, or than Harris did, and Buttigieg emphasizes how much younger he is than his geriatric opponents but does better with older voters than younger ones (at least among Democrats; that might change in a general election). Getting away from what I assume is your definition of reasonably moderate, Warren & Sanders don't seem to be focusing their messages on being female or Jewish either.

The map before Meadows led to a centrist "Blue Dog" Democratic nominee, ex-first-round-QB-bust Heath Shuler, serving three terms before it was redrawn to split Asheville among two districts. Shuler declined to stand for re-election in 2012 as a result of the gerrymandering.

Because Republican policy starts with No abortion and follows up with ‘I got mine, fuck you’. Rinse and repeat. It’s a 2 part answer.

I think mainline GOP voters would compromise on abortion WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY before they would compromise on guns.

Guns! may be the only actual principle they truly adhere to.

I'd wager a few bucks that Trump has some undocumented immigrant flush the toilet for him because he seems to have no idea how indoor plumbing works.

You hate what he does so your solution is to imitate his behavior. That is idiotic.

None of it justifies going after a 13-year-old boy just because you don't like his father. It's not about right and wrong anymore for you. It's about seeking justification for your own boorish behavior. It's about getting back at the mean guy by attacking his child. It is repulsive.

He has the title right now. You can say he doesn't deserve it. I certainly don't think he does. But he has it. If you want to go into denial and disrespect the office, that's on you. I choose not to surrender who I am just because I find the current president to be reprehensible. He and his supporters want to drag things in the gutter because that is where they win. Such tactics are what they do best. Every time you dive in there with them, you help them out.

He doesn't deserve any honorific, but that was never the point. I thought you understood that and just didn't like it. Maybe I just overestimated you.
