This board has the unique ability to make me hate both sides of an argument.

 

They do? The public school in my town gives a lengthy list of school supplies that are needed for the first day of school. Pencils and pens aren't on there, but the teachers are not buying them.

 

Changing the subject a bit.

The most regressive tax, hard on the poor more than the rich, bad for business and especially bad for small business, is the sales tax. Here in California it is 9%. Public pensions here are the best in the world, police and firefighters pensions are the best of the best only exceeded by politicians. Whenever an ambulance is needed, here in California they will be accompanied by a fire truck just in case.
