He's in a situation where the usual line of bullshit and a song and dance sidestep will no longer fly. There are too many hard questions, and even more hardcore follow-up questions when he starts spewing BS.

The country as a whole, including the markets are looking to him for leadership (god help us) and when he starts that nonsense up the market immediately drops like a rock. Everyone knows he is a compulsive liar, so he has negative credibility before he even opens his mouth.
