    This is one poll. Moreover, it's a pretty weak example of the rally-round-the-flag effect of crises. Jimmy Carter got a bigger boost from the hostages in Iran -- at first. The rally round the flag effect is human nature, namely fear. It is too terrifying to think that the President (whom all Americans have been taught from birth is the ultimate Daddy figure) is what Trump is in the middle of a life-threatening crisis, so folks would rather deny the obvious than live in terror.

    I can’t both self-isolate/social distance and listen to a Trump live TV rant fest.

    I just don’t have the fortitude.

    I fear His Orangeness would put me over the edge and I’d run out to an Arby’s and lick toilet seats as some sort of weird compensation.
