The one thing a Justice knows is that he/she will be around long after the President who appointed them is gone. The Court functions best within the Republican Party as its sleeper agent. Too overt action is bad for that role.

 

John Roberts will not kowtow to Trump any more than RBG will. The Court rejects a 10th Amendment claim that the states have control of the schools, they would fundamentally alter the structure of our federalist system. Whatever you say about the makeup of the Court, they are not going to drastically change that just to give Trump a win.

 

Time will tell, re: SCOTUS.

Your point is wrong, as usual. If McCain was still around, I’d vote for him over Biden in a heartbeat. The other two would be tougher calls.

I wonder why he didn’t call Chris Christie in for this as his point man. I’d trust him in a crisis but I guess that Trump would worry that he’d get credit.
