Spend five minutes on my Vol Deplorables board and you'd swear Tennessee is 91-9 in favor of Trump.

Tenn voted against its Sen. Gore and voted for the racist smear against Harold Ford. I've got no illusions about Tenn (even though I had a great time in Nashville in 2019)

Davidson County is one of the finest places in the world, but the state that surrounds it? Yikes.

It was the longest expansion in US history. Almost 11 years.

It's also highly deceptive without any context, because the cumulative total of GDP growth was far, far less than in previous expansions, averaging only 2.3 percent annualized. We had a zombie economy for a decade even before we got to where we are today. It was totally reliant on skyrocketing debt that required extreme monetization of that debt to keep the house of cards from falling down. It pushed future growth forward, and because the debt monetization requires destroying honest price discovery in the debt markets, it was allocated poorly and we got less for it than we should have.

Calling it an expansion is technically true, but it is not entirely unlike running up a huge credit card balance over a few years buying random stuff (much of it useless), and pretending that you have found the key to prosperity.

Perspective people; the Dow Jones is comprised of the top 50 stocks on the NYSE (I think), THAT's IT. Our economy is not based on only 50 companies.
