Most of my clients are Trumpists; they don’t wear MAGA hats around me and I don’t wear my BLM tee. We get along fine.

Schwarzkopf is in like Flynn; he was at least overtly apolitical. Colin "Chinese Menu" Powell, not so much.

You could also get a bunch of names from those who were five-star generals

I honestly just named the top few names I could think of who are widely respected with little or no scandal or political divisiveness surrounding them (such as Petraeus or Mattis). I suspect most (all?) of the five-star generals already have honorifics on bases, buildings, aircraft carriers, submarines and such, but certainly any of them who haven't yet had their names emblazoned on military infrastructure would be among the best candidates, particularly because they would have earned that fifth star during wartime.

Powell certainly wasn't apolitical and the Iraq WMD mess is obviously a major blemish on his career, but he's still really highly regarded by most Americans, I would think, and he doesn't seem like a particularly controversial choice.

Powell’s daughter was a longtime ESPN exec. FWIW.

Has he ever been seen walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain?

Why not get a bid from a contractor who doesn't support the President? I'm quite serious when I say that if I walked into a meeting with a contractor who wore a MAGA hat and had a picture of 45 on the wall, I'd turn around faster than Abe Simpson leaving the burlesque house.

There really is an obvious path forward for people seeking to rename the basis for military folk who fought (and sacrificed) for the American flag. Let the righties push back on that and see how successful they are.

Because I can compartmentalize. Our conversations are going to be limited to how much a deck that goes on three sides of the house is going to cost me, not politics.
Plus, if you found a contractor around here who doesn’t support Trump, he’d probably be riding a unicorn on his way to have lunch with Bigfoot.

Forgive this Canadian’s ignorance. How would/could a veto be overridden?
