Not ignorant. Bet most Americans don't know the mechanics. If 2/3 of the House and 2/3 of the Senate vote to override the veto, the bill becomes a law anyhow.

I think that will happen. Under President Biden.

"These Republican aides — people of color appointed by the Trump team — say they are mystified as to why the president can so forcefully call for law and order amid ongoing protests, yet he cannot speak with the same conviction about racism in America, or offer words to soothe a divided and scared nation as it faces social unrest alongside a pandemic and an economic downturn."

‘They had a huge opportunity’: People of color on Trump’s team reckon with a backlash

It's because he's a racist with zero empathy.

When real steps are taken against racism, environment laws are restored, taxes against wealthy corporations and rich people return to the level they were when America was “great,” efforts are made to patch international relationships, etc., begin during the next administration and congress and there is persistent whining from the right, I hope that the overwhelming responses is, “You had your guy and your chance to do what you wanted and you and he screwed it up at almost every opportunity. We’re going to try to fix the wreck that you made.”

Also, Melania might be the only good negotiator in that marriage.

OK, fair enough. We all have to compartmentalize to a degree, since there are very few "ideologically pure" businesses. I'd argue that your contractor probably doesn't compartmentalize as well as you do, since he overtly supports the President in his place of business. He's the one bringing his politics to the transaction. As such, I'd look to spend my money with someone else, but I get your point.

Omar Bradley, from my neck of the woods, was our last five-star general.
