Analysis | John McCain just systematically dismantled Donald Trump’s entire worldview

In his speech, McCain suggested the Western world is uniquely imperiled this year — even more so than when Barack Obama was president — and proceeded to question whether the Western world will survive.

“In recent years, this question would invite accusations of hyperbole and alarmism. Not this year,” McCain said. “If ever there were a time to treat this question with a deadly seriousness, it is now.”

In case there was any doubt that this was about Trump. Here's what followed:

    • "[The founders of the Munich conference] would be alarmed by an increasing turn away from universal values and toward old ties of blood and race and sectarianism.”
    • “They would be alarmed by the hardening resentment we see toward immigrants and refugees and minority groups, especially Muslims.”
    • “They would be alarmed by the growing inability, and even unwillingness, to separate truth from lies.”

Ah, the way Trump talks/writes, he'd give himself away in a second if he posted here like he does on Twitter.

    Seen it happen before.

After last week's episode, this isn't much of a spoiler.

Every developer of high end real estate in NYC, Los Angeles, and London has sold property to Russians -- and Chinese -- looking to park their money somewhere safe.

This is very different than being a big player in Russia.

This is it. Poor black and brown people can't vote if they're dead. No matter what the 31-year-old white supremacist says.

That's so right. Trump is a marginal developer and has been for years. Licensing his name and Schmoozing is what he's done. He couldn't develop in Russia but he tried. He completely exaggerates everything. I can't believe Putin took him seriously as a presidential contender until late.
I'd bet Trumps main interest in Russia ow that he's president is opening Trump Towers and Hotels in Russia.

Well, this is a bummer for me.

I was looking forward to the reaction of my Canuck in-laws to Ambassador Palin, and then piling on:

The White House has assured Canada that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will not be appointed as U.S. ambassador to Canada.

A Trudeau government official says that assurance was provided to Canadian officials during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to the White House on Monday.

“It isn’t Sarah Palin,” the official said.

American officials have not yet made a decision on an ambassador but were leaning to appointing someone who raised money for the Trump campaign.

Sarah Palin won’t be named U.S. ambassador to Canada: official
