Biden wasn't the best potential president among the Democrats who chose to ran this time around. He was the one people thought had the best chance to win. I'm not sure that is correct, though he is a better option than Sanders and a far better choice for president than Donald Trump.

The choice has to be the candidate who helps Biden win. This is not the time to put that aside, not with the risk being four more years of President Trump.

Apparently that depends on how good your lawyers, accountants, and lobbyists are.

An interesting question, if the market meltdown happened before the 2008 primaries instead of after, anyone think people would have voted for Obama over Hillary? My guess is people would voted for Hillary because inspiration is great, but there would have been a demand for known quantity. By the time the crash happened, Obama was already in good stead, and while McCain was more of the known entity, his response to it and his past with the Keating 5 and the general disfavor of the GOP worked against him.

All available evidence is that the choice of a vice-presidential nominee has little effect on voters EXCEPT to the extent they perceive it as an example of how the presidential nominee would perform in office. When Palin imploded, it hurt McCain, but his own chaotic response to the financial crisis hurt far more. Obama chose Biden for the usual ticket balancing reason, in his case, old Washington hand to supplement a younger guy. Had little effect. Biden's first imperative is to pick someone voters, at a minimum Democratic voters, perceive as able to take over the top spot at a moment's notice, because they all know damn well he's 78. All the rest is just idle political chatter.

Nah. They could name Chuck Schumer as the veep choice and it probably wouldn't make that much difference.

But since the entire philosophy of Team Fatfuck has been "own the libs/ fuck your feelings " it'll be a beautiful trolling gesture to put non-"white males" into positions of power. The MAGGATs won't like it, but "fuck their feelings," you know?

I think Palin really hurt McCain because she symbolized the utter cynicism of the GOP in which they would nominate a female who scored about exactly 0.000 on all issues concerning real women.

Most women I knew weren't going to vote for McCain anyway, but they were absolutely incensed and insulted the GOP assumed they would automatically vote for any female candidate. So their degree of opposition went from moderate to white-hot blazing anger.

He lost the real voters he'll need.

If there was indeed hard intel that this is true, then our allies' IC had it as well. They know when they got it and were able to observe Trump's response.

I await patriotic word from the serial apologists, laptop bombardiers and red, white and blue bedwetters as to the 1001 reasons this is OK.
