President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

So it is all about the (R) and not your beloved. He'll be crushed.

 

The entire party sold its soul, so the entire party should fall with him.

 

Ted Cruz, tea partier, said at CPAC he's never seen anything like the anger from the Democrats at the recent town halls.

 

That's insane. Only in the dark, putrid, musty, far-reaching ends of the twittersphere, where you spend your long nights, will people from this administration become "stars".

 

Interesting imagery.

 

Trump won't countenance others in the administration becoming "stars."

 

The analogies work, even if it's serious business.

The Republicans ran freaking Alan Keyes -- who, among other problems, wasn't even from Illinois -- against Obama in the 2004 Senate race.

Obama won with 70% of the vote, and was cruising to such an easy victory, he was able to campaign for/with other Senate candidates that year, helping to raise his own star.

Developing good up and coming candidates is crucial for parties, as his thwarting the same among your opponents.

As polarized as the country is, this is becoming somewhat easier, but also just as important.

We probably won't see a Democratic Governor from Texas, Georgia, or Arkansas ascend to the WH any time soon, yet three recent Dem presidents came from these offices.

And, a place like Massachusetts has become so liberal, that it might be tough to elect a senator or governor from there as president -- though a recent Dem president, and presidential nominee came from there.

So, the field of potential winning candidates for both sides is already narrowed. The Dems are in a tougher position though. They've lost so many governor's offices, and state legislatures.

Obama left no bench, and with Dems out of office for at least four years, it will be tough to replenish.

As a republican, this is a good thing.

 

And yet, it didn't.

 

So far, he's picked a lot of old (white) guys to serve in big roles, so none of them will likely go on to become president.

But, just with something like federal prosecutors, those are the kinds of guys that go one to serve in congress and the senate. Guys who's names we won't even know for a while.

Haley, if she does well, could certainly be someone who could be on a national ticket.

 

Yet.

 

It really doesn't matter what this piece of shit does you will blindly defend the man, not just his politics but the actual man.

 

As a Republican, it's a bad thing.

Without a strong Democratic candidates, you get shitshow candidates from the Rs getting into office. Without strong Republican candidates, you get shitshow candidates from the Ds getting into office. Good competition from the other side brings out the best (or, at least, better) candidates from both parties.
