President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

You're right, of course. It all comes down to who votes. I think there are a few key differences
1) it isn't a Clinton running
2) the progressive wing of the Democrats are less pissed off that Sanders lost
3) we've seen what 4 years of Trump has done
4) Biden's numbers are running consistently higher in key states compared to Clinton. Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania were within the margin of error and people got complacent.

And if I'm being really honest, I say all of that, but I'm scared something stupid is going to happen. Like really scared. 2016 is going to stick with me even with me saying admittedly premature gloating.

 

Day ain’t over yet. We don’t know what lie the Trump klan will leak to an eager-for-a-race media in a couple of weeks.

 

There was one poll out today taken after the news of Trump getting Covid, the Reuters/Ipsos poll. Showed Biden up 10, gaining one point on the margin of the poll they published last Sunday. Not a significant change one way or the other. Just one poll of course, but the whole theme of polling in 2020 to date is all this weird shit keeps going down and Biden keeps a lead between 6-9 points come what may,.

 

Apparently being part of the minority party in the Senate isn’t fun, either.

 

Maybe not, but keep in mind that some clinical sorts call places like Urgent Care a "Doc-In-A-Box."

 

When Reagan was shot, I was one of probably dozens of students interviewed by the campus newspaper. The reporters had a habit of dialing random dorm phones and asking for opinions or quotes. Dorm phones were in the hallway so almost anyone could answer. I was what I thought was a typical college student, fairly liberal. Didn’t vote for Reagan and thought and still think he was a dope and a terrible president. And don’t buy that he was a nice guy either. But when asked for a reaction, i said I was sorry to learn he was shot and that he was a tough guy and I fervently hope he pulls through. well I was quoted in the front page article, last. After 6 other students were quoted as saying some form of “ good, I hope he dies”. I was completely shocked at the callousness of the other students. I disagreed with the guy and didn’t like him. But it never occurred to me to be happy he was shot or that anyone else would.

Trump is a few light years worse than Reagan. And I’m only ambivalent about his impending death because I am uncertain how it would effect the election.

 

I am doing that dance right now.

 

Funny. When I think of Republicans, not having our current President properly removed from office followed by 200,000-plus Americans dead - and counting - the Bruce Springsteen track that immediately comes to mind is "Murder Incorporated."

 

I've used this argument with more than one person. "Look, you still get to vote for an old white dude, and Biden isn't a semiliterate asshole Russian stooge." The only response is "SOCIALISM!"
