But Cory Booker's party isn't constantly being accused of trying to turn back the clock to those days.

That was good enough for you and Bobby McGee. And avoid Salinas.

His attempt at satire was to invoke a vary racist concept after he already said—seriously—that Black people must be conservative so they can be allowed to go wherever they want. It is a comment he should not have made and dismissing it as bad satire brushes aside a troubling comment. Calling it just a joke or satire or bad satire allows people to say stupidly racist things because they have someone coming to their defense. He rightfully needs to be taken to task for saying it.

That's fine. And voters can decide in three weeks what to do with him.

But I would have no problem if some Democratic senator asked ACB, "Are you in favor of overturning Roe v Wade and going back to the good old days of back-alley abortions with clothes hangers?"

Because I would understand the spirit in which the term was being used. Hell, these days it's most often used in a backhanded sort of way.

ACB forgot the most cherished First Amendment freedom: freedom from criticism after saying something racist.

Were the lines that long in 2016 when almost everyone in Texas voted on the traditional election day? Are the lines that long in The Woodlands or any other white enclave? Asking for a friend.
