I seriously doubt that Barack Obama had any more of a clue about what was going on in 2008 when Bear Stearns imploded and Lehman Brothers went bankrupt than John McCain did, although I'd bet that some of the people advising each were able to explain that central bank stupidity had enabled a masive housing bubble and a ridiculously overlevered banking system that had built up over years and years and was culminating in a debt crisis.

The reason McCain had no chance wasnt because he didn't understand finance or economics (lots of people who do, put blinders on for a decade+ ignoring and encouraging what caused the financial crisis. ... and Obama's "addressing" of it was to encourage more of the same -- a debt crisis propped up with more debt being monetized by the Fed). It was because people were losing their homes and jobs and were freaked out and McCain was the dude from the incumbent party being blamed.

Many, though not all, of Biden's pauses restatements, and appearing to get lost, are, I believe, when he is doing mental exercises to not stutter.

The Democratic Party is playing Marquis of Queesnbury rules while the GOP is using street fight tactics. The Dems get their butts kicked repeated
The investigators into the police shooting did recover a gun. In the suspect's pocket - so....awkward.

Four years ago at this moment, Colorado was still considered a swing state

Easily planted, especially if it was a hit. Probably some gun stolen from an FBI evidence locker.

South Carolina Senate race appears to have changed. Reputable polls had it as a draw last week. Now Lady G is well ahead.

Not really. 538 has had it at a 20 to 27 percent chance for Harrison for months now, and the individual polls have fallen between Harrison +1 or +2, and Graham +6. That's not great, but Trump is projected to win the state by 11. I don't ever think its truly been a "toss up" election for this cycle as a result, except that Graham is weak as a candidate. It's hard to believe that Rs coming out for Trump are then going to not vote for Graham, or instead, vote for Harrison.

In contrast, Georgia does seem to be pretty solidly a toss-up at this point.

I'm not that surprised Graham is running behind Trump. It's easy to envision voters who think Trump is "tough" and "tells it like it is" also thinking, more accurately, that Graham is a whiny shape-shifting little weasel. Sycophancy seldom plays well even if folks like the person you're sucking up to.
