If Biden wins (and that is looking overwhelmingly likely), I am hoping he begins before Inauguration Day.

There really isn't a ton the president has to do with regard to the pandemic, aside from not getting in the way of the CDC, the NIAID and local health care providers. It's a messaging game, where you as president can support all of their efforts and provide constant messaging as people grow weary and start to let their guards down. Biden can begin that messaging immediately and hammer at it relentlessly with the forum being president elect will give him.

With regard to therapeutics and vaccines, as much as Trump acts like he personally is developing those things, they are being developed by pharmaceutical and biotech companies in conjunction with researchers at major universities. Those things will come -- if we are lucky -- regardless of who is president.

A bad president would have not done the constant simple messaging and providing inspiration and leadership. It took a real asshole of a president, to set the wrong example with his own behavior, lie to the public, downplay the threat, sew discord, create confusion and egg on the dumbest people out there to treat wearing a mask to stop the spread of a highly infectious virus as some nonsensical political statement.

All we need is someone who isn't a complete moron, and it will be good enough. Joe Biden can begin that the day he is president elect.

"You can't trust a thing Lindsey Graham says."
"But look who else is on the ballot. Bill Bledsoe wants to ban all abortions, wants no gun control and backs Trump on everything. Bill Bledsoe is too conservative for South Carolina."

A Jaime Harrison ad in which the only time Harrison is mentioned is when he approves the ad. Strange as hell. Trying to mobilize the rabid conservatives to vote for the "too conservative" guy and take away from Graham's total. I guess with unlimited money you can do this shit.

McConnell used to boast that the Republicans would always out raise the Democrats.

Run better candidates and maybe they can fill their coffers with 'donation' money too.

If Trump loses, is there any chance we hear Fauci say the next day, “The President simply has been wrong on all virus issues since Day 1.” What’s the worst that happen? Trump fires him and Biden calls 10 minutes later and rehires him as of 1/20.

in 1978, the republicans did a similar thing in an SC race for Congress. It was an open seat and the Democrat was Jewish. The republicans ran their lee Atwater approved guy and then found a tow truck driver to run as an independent because “he didn’t like the idea that a man who hadn’t accepted Jesus Christ being elected.” The republican squeaked out the victory.

Doug Jones in Alabama has the opposite problem. The place is so red that he can't really run a full-throated campaign against Trump and hope to win. All he can do is to talk about working to represent the people of Alabama in a bipartisan way, which he has. He's basically Republican light with the exception of the must have Dem positions on abortion, etc. Tuberville, OTOH has superglued himself to Trump's leg and is painting Jones as Nancy Pelosi's bitch.

Fauci has been very politic in what he says — he plays the long game in terms of supporting science. It wouldn’t shock me if he were fired if Trump loses just because he’s a spiteful fuck.

Yeah, it always sucks when someone copies your longtime playbook.

Somehow I think there's a job for Fauci in a Biden administration if fatfuck fires him after the election.
