    change a vote? Not many.

make the difference between them showing up and just thinking about it but never getting around to it? Yes.

advertising is a trillion dollar industry because it works

Mr. Silver grades the Fox News poll an “A-“.

Election advertising is more about driving or depressing turnout these days than they are about persuasion. A lot of the negative advertising is aimed at eliminating those "undecided" voters who strategists can't count on or model any way.

In re Florida: This fact comes courtesy of Steve Schale, a Democratic political consultant in that state who is an occasional blogger. In the seven Presidential elections starting in 1992, a total of 51 million votes have been cast in the state. The margin between the two parties out of 51 million is less than 20,000. Florida will be close because it always is.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't PACs face stiffer FEC restrictions than the campaigns themselves?

Big money donors can give large sums to PACs but not to campaigns. This is a way to let the sugar daddies spend big bucks. It's also under the RNC umbrella so it's somewhat less likely to be stolen by the Trump grift machine.

It may not be a "sick burn," but it's a legit question. It's why I bailed on church as a kid. And they may not believe in an invisible man, but they live their lives in accordance to things allegedly set down by the Charles Manson/David Koresh/Jim Jones/Name Your Favorite Freak of 2000 years ago. And a sky fairy.

Far better to be all rational and tug one's forelock at what "the voters say!"

There's an "on the other hand" addendum to my above post on the RNC and PACs advertising for Trump in Florida. The campaigns themselves get a significant discount on the market rate tor air time, like 30 percent, mandated by law. The party committees and PACs do not.
