President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

I think people want to ascribe intelligence to Trump because they were duped. That's not how it works.

 

Trump is a 1-man band who I think is still pretty lucid and savvy and does what he wants when he wants.

He's Bart Simpson with a silver spoon.

 

In a perverse way, it's fun(ny) to watch him work the cult like a fiddle during the rallies.

 

So he made it all up?

 

Yes, he did.

 

That particular poster is utterly embarrassing.

 

Apparently they have a jumbotron setup at his rallies where he can get his klan in a lather by showing clips of things Biden et al previously said. Not sure how long they've been using it.

 

Ocaam's razor says, unless you can unravel why he'd say it, it's more likely true than not true.

The alternative is that he made up a story that didn't make sense to you, for motives that aren't clear.

 

The guy told suburban women "your husbands will go back to work". That shows no situational awareness that could be equated to intelligence.

He just talks feces. His words have zero value because there is no work being put into them.

One of the funnier lines I've heard this week was Stuart Stevens saying the average suburban teen in Mississippi wants to be something closer to a black rap star than he wants to be Robert E. Lee.

The Trump campaign can't even read the dreams of its own base.

 

That needs to be on TV.

 

The two things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but I think the second part of this is incorrect. It's where political analysts misunderstand him. He's not a mastermind. He's not even very clever in his own field. He's a self-promoting con artist who's been running the same local scam the same way for 40 years.

That he fancies himself a business titan is part of the narcissism. That he tips more toward Mussolini than Jack Welch is too.

That he's become a useful idiot for others is perhaps the greater danger.
