President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

At this point, it's probably down to whether they want to get their death threats from the left or from the MAGA set.

 

When I think of the way Trump is leading the party, and the GOP's willingness to follow him down any ridiculous path, I think of this scene.

 

My wife keeps on with the Eeyore scenarios of Trump's bunch dragging it out and state legislatures jacking around with electors.
I can't bring myself to believe there are enough people willing to go along with that, and if there is, it won't matter because there won't be a country left.
Has Trump done more things than I can count after saying "that won't happen"? Sure. Will I feel a whole lot better once Biden is inaugurated? Absolutely.
I'm just not going to let myself get caught up in thinking there are enough people - even GOP wingnuts - willing to do that.

 

There are more than enough people willing to do it. But they seem to be outnumbered. Also led by idiots, which never helps.

 

Then there aren’t “enough people.”

At what point are those going along with this charade of "voter fraud" past the point of redemption? Seriously? I truly hope that "Trump Accomplice" is added to the chyron ID of whomever aided and abbetted in the travesty of the last four years. McConnell, Hannity, Tucker, Rudy, the lot of them. They might think of it as a badge - most will think of it as a defining stain.

 

It's pretty obvious that the official position of the Republican Party, not just Trump, is that elections are valid only when they win them, and that Democrats winning is illegal. They want a one-party authoritarian state. My guess is they'll get their wish sooner or later because no Democratic administration would have the nerve to treat them as the traitorous enemies to the Constitution they are.

 

Who would have thought that “Constitutional originalism” means mainly white guys get to vote?
