That's news to Biden's new director of the Office of Management and Budget, who tweeted (since removed), “Why would hackers hack in unless they could change results? What’s the point?”

It's not what they DID; it's what others BELIEVE they did, and how that undermines our faith in elections.

America has a history of declaring any foreign election in which its favored candidate lost as flawed and rigged. If Putin had a goal, it was to make half of America say the same thing about its own elections.

    Success beyond his wildest dreams.

I was suspicious the morning after in 2016, but quickly came to realize Trump actually appealed to about 46 percent of the American public. The 2020 election underscores that.

But you do have to grant us some incredulity. We went from a bubble thinking the Obama presidency had gone pretty well despite a lot of ratfucking by the GOP. We took the tea party movement and Jim Jordans of the world as outliers. We were wrong. A large part of this country, and we can all disagree on why it is, didn’t like the direction that era went. I think there are many reasons. Not just people being racist, or economically disadvantaged or people just wanting something different or the influence of social media or James Comey or Clinton’s bad campaign or black voters not turning out. It was all those things. Add in the fact that the same ghings ghat made John Daly beloved to millions of sports fans drew people to Trump, 2016 happened and it happened fair and square, as much as an election can be fair or square. There’s always chicanery at the margins and only in times like 1960 do those margins actually matter.

But there was a short period of time where thievery seemed possible. I don’t expect you to agree, that Putin has done some dastardly things and it all seemed possible the next morning.

So you have this fog where it was hard to recognize where we were. Conservatives called it being triggered. I think it was more like suddenly finding everything you thought was true being refuted and trying to piece together answers for why that was. People on the left and right gloated, sneered that they’d been trying to warn us. That’s fair. But it doesn’t make the acclimation to a new world any easier. For a brief second shenanigans seemed possible.

People who continued to believe the election was stolen, largely Clintonworld people, were being unreasonable. This year’s election confirmed that Trump’s view of the world appeals to a large minority of the U.S. We now have to deal with that head on, instead of dismissing it.

Believing it was legitimate but that the electoral college is awful is another position altogether.

And I’m not about to defend Neera Tanden, who every time she speaks sounds like a drunk person talking her way through an oral exam she didn’t study for.

    Ohhhhhh, good ole Roger Stone.

"I just learned of absolute incontrovertible evidence of North Korean boats delivering ballots through a harbor in Maine, the state of Maine," Stone said.

    This is worrisome.

And of course, I’m sure there was no followup on which harbor in Maine it was.
