I always love the "least racist" part - not "I love black people," or "I'm not racist" - the fact that he's the "least racist" person he knows says a lot about who he is and chooses to hang out with.

Get your Karen Kelly Loeffler doll for Christmas. Wind it up and it says "Radical leftist!" "socialism!" "American Dream!" participates in insider trading and and stabs Brian Kemp in the back, but can't say "President-elect Joe Biden."

Southern GOP senators are an awful collection of human beings.

And WTF is Kristi Noem doing in Georgia. Not like there's nothing going on in South Dakota she should be concerned about, other than 40-50 people dying of Covid every day.

I first heard about Brinkley when doing a school paper on WWII isolationism. The guy who prevailed in that election--Democrat Harry H. Woodring would lose re-election to Alf Landon. Anyway, Woodring got a pity job in the War Department as assistant secretary in FDR's first term. Then, the secretary (George Dern, Bruce's granddad) died. Woodring got the promotion and FDR (before WWII) didn't pay much attention to the department. When Woodring's isolationism become a problem circa 1940, FDR canned him.

Damn good piece on how Trump's Christmas grift is a piece of coal for the two Georgia senate races, mainly because the GOP has two subpar candidates with massive baggage issues. Perdue and Loeffler won't stand up to or separate themselves from Trump because they can't afford to lose votes, which just might cause them to lose them anyway.

Actually, now it's more than 81 million, and way, way more if you count Canada and Europe.

Here are the meat grafs of the federal judge's ruling against The Kraken. I'm honestly surprised he gave them 90 minutes of his time.

    ---

"Batten did not rule on the merits of Powell’s claim, which were made on behalf of a slate of would-be Trump electors in the Electoral College.

"Instead, the judge granted motions to dismiss the lawsuit on the grounds that the suit did not belong in federal court.

"Batten repeatedly suggested that Powell could have filed her lawsuit in state court, and he cited an federal appeals court ruling that “federal courts don’t entertain post-election conduct, excuse me, contests about vote-counting misconduct.”

"Batten also said he found that the plaintiffs in the case did not have legal standing to bring the lawsuit.

“In their complaint, the plaintiffs essentially ask the court for perhaps the most extraordinary relief ever sought in any federal court in connection with an election,” the judge said.

“They want this court to substitute its judgment for that of 2.5 million Georgia voters who voted for Joe Biden, and this I am unwilling to do.”
