For four years, Donald Trump had the easiest job in the country. Just don’t be a dick for three years, and you’ll breeze to re-election. The unemployment numbers, rigged as they are, were low and the stock market continued climbing. We weren’t at war. Gas prices were low. All he had to do was not be a fuckin’ cocksmoke and he was getting another term.

All he had to do was not call Proud Boys “very fine people.” All he had to do was not egregiously steal. All he had to do was not operate through pettiness. All he had to do was not say shit about Biden to Ukraine. All he had to do was take the pandemic seriously. All, honestly, he really had to do, was get out of the way.

And he couldn’t do it. Couldn’t even try.
