An "everybody does it" line of reasoning that one would not accept from a child caught misbehaving at recess, let alone from a leader elected on the premise he was different from all those who preceded him.

The media covering Washington has been complacent for a long time now. The WH press corps was epecially useless. Couple that with the fallout from their performance leading up to the election and they find themselves in an impossible spot with Trump. They spent years squandering the leverage they had as the fifth estate. Now they have none.

Our intelligence is going to get smacked to the floor daily for the rest of his life. And we won't even get Yankees tickets out of it. Sad!

The craven and sycophantic media is another story.

Your thesis cannot possibly be that Trump wants to be more honest and transparent but he is unable until the media asks the right questions (which, of course, he would welcome).

Everything is going to be fine as long as no one tries to hold Trump accountable for anything he says or does, which he may or may not mean literally, nor hold him to any sort of standard whatsoever.

I eagerly await Baghdad YankeeFan's arrival to explain to us how it is completely normal and understandable for a president to engage in Twitter pissing matches with the New York Times.

We don't have reporters covering the State Department. We have stenographers.

The people who voted for him aren't mad that he's doing it.

Therefore, it's totally OK and presidential for him to do it.
