Meals on Wheels will be fine.

    This is fake talking point.

Meals on Wheels is a network of charities in local communities. It's not a government program.

In 2017, Meals on Wheels Chicago turns 30 years old. Over the years we have served millions of meals to thousands of senior citizens and people with disabilities. In order to serve a city of more than 200 square miles, we partner with the City of Chicago Department of Family and Support Services and the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities for case management and Open Kitchens for meal preparation and delivery. Meals and Wheels Chicago fundraises to support their efforts. We do not receive government funding and rely on the generous support of individuals, corporations and foundations. This highly efficient partnership allows us to meet the needs of our homebound neighbors. I offer “Behind the Wheel” to give you a behind-the-scenes look of how we meet or mission or to speak more generally of this issues facing senior citizens and people with disabilities. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you for the difference you make in the lives of senior and neighbors with disabilities.

I don't see how you completely eliminate the $3 billion Community Development Block Grant program without hurting Meals on Wheels. Sorry.

    So, let's see some numbers.

The best the linked article could muster was that that the number of people served could be reduced.

So, what percentage of your local Meals on Wheels funding comes from the federal government? According to the Chicago chapter, they receive no government money -- federal or otherwise.

However, under the proposed budget, the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s entire $3 billion Community Development Block Grant program would be eliminated, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The grants fund services for low-income Americans ― including grants for Meals on Wheels programs.

Since most Meals on Wheels programs use funding from several sources, it’s unlikely the cuts would end the services. However, they could force many to reduce the number of people they are able to serve.

Meals on Wheels absolutely gets money from the Community Development Block Grant. In San Jose, for example, the CDBG gave $100,650 in FY2016 to the organization.

Why can't food trucks takeover Meals on Wheels?

Glenn Thrush of the Times tweets quote on Trump and his budget from "Senior aide to GOP Hill leadership:" "It's a joke... we've learned not to pay attention to anything he says or does. We're on our own up here."
Wonder if the aide is an aide to Ryan or McConnell.

Clearly they should pull themselves up by the bootstraps. I'm sure Meals on Wheels in places like Greenville, Miss., or Wheeling, W. Va., or Gallup, N.M., have the same access to a deep-pocketed corporate community as the Chicago branch.

LOL fake. Does not meet the Omtrumpsman's standards of accuracy, rigor and, most importantly, preferred reality.
