RWSM? Isn't it the left that wants to do away with the electoral college so that "every vote counts?"

And those votes should be included in the total count so that ballot issues that require at least a certain percentage (50 percent, 66 percent, etc. ) would have to include the nonspecific votes.

Strangely I hear righties bring it up more often, even despite the fact the Republicans have won one popular vote (2004) since the day Reagan left office.

Read this article, and let me know if the current system is working:

The first clue to who might want Michael Smith dead was found lying next to his bullet-riddled body.

Tucked inside the pocket of Smith's suit coat was a subpoena for him to testify at the trial of Comfort Robinson, a career criminal who, if convicted, faced a 30-year prison sentence on a gun charge.

Robinson had been set to go on trial before a judge that morning, Jan. 27, 2016, for an incident inside a Chicago nightclub where Smith worked as a security guard.

Unexpectedly, as Smith sat ready to testify, Robinson asked for a trial by jury, delaying his case.

Smith walked out of the courthouse shortly after 11 a.m. and headed home for lunch with his wife and child. An hour later, he was dead. A gunman fired nine rounds into Smith in front of his suburban Chicago home as his 3-year-old son stood along the kitchen window. Bullets ripped into Smith's head, neck, chest and pelvis.

Prosecutors said Robinson, a high-ranking gang member and drug dealer, orchestrated Smith's killing while out on bond, hoping to derail the gun case against him by murdering the state's key witness.

Robinson had been free for months after a cousin put up $20,000 toward his bail, even though he had allegedly threatened to kill Smith and others at the nightclub, had a criminal arrest record that spans more than two decades and had served time in state prison for robbery, drug dealing and multiple weapons charges.

His case illustrates how the state's bond system has become a revolving door for the defendants who pose the greatest threat to public safety: violent gang members arrested on gun charges.

While police and politicians have pressed for harsher prison sentences for those convicted of gun crimes, too often those arrested multiple times on felony weapons charges cycle in and out of jail before their trials, easily posting bond with suspected gang money, only to commit new crimes long before their original case is resolved.

How a revolving door bond system puts violent criminals back on Chicago's streets

Realizing their mistake, GOP leadership is working on adding women to the Senate group writing the healthcare bill.

Maybe so, but Wright was still an unsavory character that Obama's supporters tried to downplay as insignificant. Those are the same supporters now hammering Trump for not denouncing or distancing himself enough from the alt-right fringe, as well as trying to paint this pastor as a modern Rasputin who has the president's ear.
If this woman is a grifter, yeah, she's shady as hell. Do whatever gets done with people like that. As with many political things, however, it's amazing how short people's memories are and how flexible their ethical standards can be.

Absolutely. But I'm in favor of making it easier to vote. Not every employer has a "take a long lunch if you want to vote" policy for election Tuesdays.

Did you let Trump know about this hole in the system? Maybe he wouldn't have put it at a week to fix.

This is a good point. To increase abysmal turnout in local elections, my town in 2014 piggybacked them on state and congressional election day. Two separate ballots. Way more than 20 choices to be made. This is not a user-friendly experience. One reason vote by mail increases turnout as much as it does is that the voter can take their own sweet time in filling out the ballot.

What was the runoff vote as compared to the vote in the first round?

It's not difficult to vote if you want to.

Roughly the same. About three or four percent more abstentions. It was deduced they were mostly hard left Melenchon supporters.
