Nixon loved his country so much that he abused the immense power of the highest office in that country to try to persecute his perceived enemies, commit crimes and then try to obstruct justice.

    What a patriot.

Compared with Trump, Nixon belongs on Mt Rushmore

You were the one who posted about his "sense" and "his love of country."

Nixon didn't have much sense. He was paranoid and mean spirited. And he didn't resign for love of country. He resigned because he personally found it preferable to being removed from office.

Even with Watergate, Nixon's legacy is 100000 times what Trump's will end up being.

Nixon resigned for the good of the country. Trump will burn this country down and he won't go quietly

Nixon went to China, Trumps going to try and lease it

The good of the country? That's an interesting take. The writing was on the wall. The house subcommittee had recommended impeachment. He was toast, so he resigned bc he was gonna get shitcanned anyway. ''Twas a foregone conclusion.

Yes. But rather than go through the impeachment, he resigned. Rather than hunkering down and fighting it, he saw the handwriting on the wall and, for the good of the country, went away quietly. He was a reprehensible president and a deeply flawed person but trump is worse by degrees of magnitude
