Why Melania, Ivanka Trump wore veils and all black to meet the pope

It is a little telling that Ivanka could wear a veil out of respect for one religion that isn't hers but not for a different religion that isn't hers. Ought to be her choice, but a little consistency would have been more diplomatic.

 

Apparently the protocol rationalization is that meeting the Pope is meeting the head of a religion while the meetings in Saudi Arabia were nominally secular get-togethers with secular figures, not Muslim clergy. This makes some sense, although why they had to dress like Michael Corleone's grandmother escapes me.

 

Why does Trump even need a lawyer for this Russian stuff when he has said repeatedly that there is nothing to it?

And that the press is just making it up?

And he acts like a person with nothing to hide?

I don't understand.

Even the most loyal Trumpista has to at least raise an eyebrow at Trump praising extrajudicial killing of alleged drug dealers - right?

Or will this be LOLed off with another "don't take him literally" explanation?
