I'm a massive American military history fanboi, but Gods and Generals is a ponderously boring film, full of wooden acting and even worse dialogue.

The book wasn't much better.

Jeff Shaara isn't half the writer his dad was.

To be clear, I'm not defending the woman. Though she isn't nearly as important as you and YF would like her to be, I strongly disagree with some of her views. That said, her views on Israel alone do not prove she is a bigot against Jewish people.

 

Agreed on the book. Killer Angels is a favorite of mine. I really need to watch Gettysburg. I started reading Gods and Generals and just couldn't get into it.

 

I watched Gods and Generals. So boring. Between the beards and the constant references to being "God's favorites" it might as well have been the Taliban instead of the Confederates. But mostly, it was a really boring movie. Gettysburg so much better.

Nothing I feel a need to "explain away." The more communication between parties, the less chance of a misunderstanding. USA will never have a friend in the Kremlin, nor do they need one. What they desperately need is a PARTNER in Moscow. Cannot achieve anything truly meaningful and positive any other way.

We almost went to war in 1962 and have had other scary near-misses because of horseshit communication and erroneous interpretations of interests and motivations. I'm tired of it.

 

Fucko wants to be Putin's "friend," on the deranged assumption he can then milk him, bilk him, and fuck him over like he does all his other "friends."

Most of Fucko's "friends" are morons, gullible dupes. Putin is not. Just when Fucko thinks he's going to pull the trigger on Putin for the big fuck-over, he'll find Uncle Vlad has quite different plans indeed.

It would all be quite entertaining to watch, if not for the substantial chance he'll kill us all in the process.
