The part of this I find even more worrisome is that this wasn't Trump going off the reservation. The call was "arranged by his Taiwan-friendly campaign staff after his aides briefed him on issues regarding Taiwan and the situation in the Taiwan Strait." The Chinese don't understand (or care) Trump's act. They respect the diplomatic norms, where the choice of a few words matter hugely, and Trump just took a steaming shit on their end of the table before he even got close to sitting down.

 

Those Chinese, always gracious to their fellow humans.

 

The Middle Kingdom is still of the opinion that anyone who is not Chinese is a foreign barbarian.

 

I can understand concern over Trump doing this before he takes office, but the knee-jerk anti-Trump responses make people sound like staunch defenders of China, not comcerned Americans.

The Left is going to have to learn how to effectively respond to/deal with Trump or even more people are going to tune out the daily Chicken Littling. The Left is going to have to pick its battles or it'll just be screeching into the void.

 

Yes, the Left, because the Right is 100% in lockstep behind Trump and hoping he has more discussions with Taiwan's president.

 

Well the positive news is this will probably help Trump Hotel - Taiwan get built, which will be a job and wealth creator for at least one American company.

 

Completely different dynamic.
