In Texas they put Laura Bush on there, but took her off for the other stops.

 

If the Dems are going to cherry-pick districts to give a damn about (obviously, the opportunity presented itself here), they should use that kitchen-table economic message to go for rural, less affluent districts full of the lower-class people of all races who used to make up their base. That seems much more fruitful than chasing wealthy suburbs in search of mythical moderate Republicans.

 

Haven't Bono and W gotten to be friends over the past few years?

 

Yes, they worked together on the AIDS in Africa initiative.

 

I'm an old fart now, but I don't know anyone who much gives a shit about Lena Dunham or what she thinks.

 

For all the folks looking at last night's election in Georgia as some moral victory, it should be pointed out that the Dems barely competed in this district in November. Price's outsized win -- which was much greater than Trump's margin of victory -- was in large part because we had a popular incumbent and a Dem candidate who was not "recruited" at all.

The district probably is about +4 or so Republican. So, if you're hoping this loss shows that Dems can flip a Republican seat in 2018, against an incumbent who won by 10 in November, you'll likely be very disappointed.

 

Bono visited W. at his ranch while in Texas. Bush posted a photo of them together on his Instagram.

Liberals were not happy with Bono.

We talked about it at work the other day. Bono successfully lobbied W. to assist with a cause that liberals supported, to see it as a human issue instead of a partisan issue.

People who have a problem with their friendship or their working relationship show their true colors, same as the conservatives who got bent out of shape when Chris Christie worked with Obama after Superstorm Sandy.

 

Hell, Bono befriended Jesse Helms and Paul O'Neill (Bush's first Treasury Secretary.)

 

The idea of successful politics is to build alliances to work on things, not reject them. Trump could (but won't) drive his approval ratings up 10 points just by saying he can't support the current health care bills and calling one of those high profile bipartisan meetings as a sign of good faith for negotiations on a bill he could support.
